Kent Conrad grew up and graduated from high school in Ainsworth, Nebraska, where he participated in basketball and music. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethany (Oklahoma) Nazarene College, now Southern Nazarene University. He then earned a Master of Divinity degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri.
He and Kay met at Bethany, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education. Kay grew up in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
Kent served as a youth pastor in Spokane before taking his first senior pastorate at Regency Park Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He then served at Aurora Church in Shoreline, Washington for over three years before coming to Nampa, Idaho in September 2002. He served as Senior Pastor at Nampa First Church of the Nazarene until retiring on December 31, 2015. He has also served on several boards that help guide the Church of the Nazarene and its colleges.
Kent says that retirement leaves more time for riding his motorcycle (has been involved in Road Riders for Jesus), following University of Nebraska football, working a bit in residential real estate, and volunteer work such as men’s Bible studies and mentoring. Now, in keeping with his calling, he looks forward to connecting with a new community and new neighbors.
Kent and Kay have one daughter and son-in-law, Greg and Jennifer Galloway, and two grandchildren, Karyn and Ben.
